Leadership

Nathan Bland, Owner/Director
Nathan Bland began his dance training in California under Margret Lloyd’s Smallie and Sandy Thomas before advancing his studies at Pittsburgh Youth Ballet with Melissa Bowman. He went on to enjoy a wide-ranging professional career, performing with companies including Kansas City Ballet, Eugene Ballet/Ballet Idaho, Oklahoma City Ballet, and Connecticut Ballet.
In 2010, Nathan joined the National Ballet Theatre of Croatia as a Soloist, performing major classical roles such as the Cavalier in The Nutcracker, Hilarion in Giselle, and featured roles in Napoli and Carmen, with touring throughout Italy, Germany, and Croatia.
Nathan’s connection to Berks Ballet Theatre began in 2006 when he first appeared as a guest artist in The Nutcracker. In 2012, he became Owner and Director of the Berks Ballet Theatre Conservatory of Dance, where he has expanded the conservatory’s artistic vision, programming, and pre-professional training. He is deeply committed to developing young dancers, building a curriculum rooted in classical technique, and fostering a supportive yet rigorous environment for students pursuing collegiate and professional careers.
Nathan is an active choreographer whose recent works for BBT include Hansel and Gretel, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Variations on a Theme, and last season’s full-length productions of Cinderella and The Four Seasons. He also choreographs BBT’s annual production of The Nutcracker.
Nathan is honored to lead BBT into its milestone 50th season, continuing the company’s legacy of excellence while shaping its future for generations to come.

Marguerite Wegman, Teacher
Marguerite “Miss Marguerite” Wegman was born and raised in Reading, Pennsylvania. She began her dance training with Carol Ennis at the age of nine, studying ballet, tap and jazz. She also attended dance conventions in New York City and New Jersey. Throughout her training, she competed in various competitions.
In 1976, she became one of the first principal and corp dancers of “La Petite Ballet Company,” which was founded under the direction of Carol Ennis. This company is now known as, “Berks Ballet Theatre”.
Over the years, she performed in many ballets including “Cinderella” and “The Nutcracker”, dancing roles such as, Snow Queen, snow and flower corp and most recently, Mrs. Stahlbaum.
Marguerite began teaching for Carol Ennis in 1977 and has remained on staff for 35+ years. During this time, she also choreographed local high school musicals. She currently teaches creative movement, pre-ballet, tap and jazz. She specializes in teaching children ages 3-12. Miss Marguerite truly enjoys teaching at The Conservatory and is looking forward to working with your child!
