Classes at Berks Ballet Theatre are organized by curriculum or level, which is assessed by age group. All classes are currently in-person. Click below to order your uniform for Creative Movement through Ballet 2 


2 years – 4 years old

Join us Saturdays for “Two-Tus,”  a 30-minute ballet-based class that will introduce our tiniest dancers to basic dance movements, musicality, and following the teacher. There is no uniform for this class, just a leotard, tights, and ballet shoes. There will be an in-studio performance at the end of the season.  September 6 – June 10, 2023.

Overview
Creative Movement(Ages 3-4) is about cultivating each student’s natural tendencies to move/dance. It’s channeling those energies into a fun but lightly structured movement to begin to get ready for Pre-Ballet and Beginning Tap.

  • Ballet Pink Tights
  • Full-sole leather pink ballet shoes

Overview
Fairy Tale Ballet will focus on different fairy tales through music, movement, and storytime! This class will feature ballet-based movements while teaching them motor skills, coordination, and much more! 5 – 12 years old

Overview

In Pre–Ballet 1 (5 years old), we begin to build the foundation of classical ballet. Learning the proper French terminology for each step and instilling the structure of a ballet class. All the while still keeping the class energetic and fun. We also introduce them to the basics of Tap dancing which helps them to build rhythm.

Overview

In Pre–Ballet 2 (6 years old) we continue to build upon the foundation for classical ballet that we started in Pre–Ballet 1 while introducing more French terminology and expanding their knowledge of ballet steps. Beginner Tap 2 expands on what they learned in Beginner Tap 1 and takes their tapping skills to the next level.

Overview

Intro to Acro dance will begin with a warm-up working on motor skills and coordination leading into core strengthening and back flexibility. They will work on building a foundation in mat work, strength, and balance!

Overview

Ballet 1 (Ages 7+)follows a syllabus outlined by Conservatory Director Nathan Bland. It’s designed to train each student properly in classical ballet, keeping their natural skeletal structure in mind. By properly training the young dancers’ muscles, we can elevate them to the next level of ballet training at a healthy, structured pace.

  • Tap + Jazz 1 follows ballet

  • Ballet Pink Tights
  • Full-sole leather pink ballet shoes, tan jazz, and black tap shoes

Overview

Ballet 1a (Ages 9+) is a continuation of Ballet 1 following a syllabus outlined by Conservatory Director Nathan Bland. It’s designed to train each student properly in classical ballet, keeping in mind their natural skeletal structure. By properly training the young dancers’ muscles we are able to elevate to the next level of ballet training at a healthy, structured pace.

 Details:

  • Ballet 2 x a week and Jazz + Contemporary 1 x a week

Overview

Pre-Professional 1 is for dancers who wish to train at a professional level. In this evel we begin to train more on pointe and introduce harder steps and combinations. Dancers will be challenged to meet the higher level of expectations.  Classes will focus on pointe work, pirouettes, use of the head and upper body, fluidity of port de bras as well as the intricacies of small and large jumps.

Details

A placement class is required to join Pre-Professional 1. If you are looking to take ballet at a higher level but do not commit to a 4-day week training schedule, please inquire to discuss options.

Overview

Pre-Professional 2 classes are for the intermediate-advanced ballet student. Only those who have a minimum of one year pointe work are placed in this level. This level will pay attention to fine details, use of the upper body, breath of movement and expression as well as an increasingly advanced repertory of steps.

Uniform Requirements: 

  • Monday – Eggplant/Dark Purple
  • Tuesday – Burgandy
  • Wednesday – Mint Green
  • Thursday – Black
  • Ballet Pink Tights with seams
  • Split-sole leather or canvas pink ballet shoes

Overview

Pre-Professional 3 classes are for the advanced ballet student. Only those who have a strong mastery of pointe work are placed in this level. This class will pay attention to fine details, use of the upper body, breath of movement and expression as well as an increasingly advanced repertory of steps.

Details

  • This class meets 4  days a week and includes ballet + pointe every day along with modern once a week.
  • It is strongly suggested students take Open Class on Fridays from 4:00 – 5:45pm*
