Health & Safety

Following a year off-stage we’re elated to bring “The Nutcracker” back live to Berks County with the accompaniment of the wonderful, Reading Pops Orchestra for our 46th season!

At Berks Ballet Theatre health and safety is our number one priority. We remain committed to bringing our best to the stage, while keeping audiences our dancers, crew/staff and musicians safe. The company’s board members and staff are continuing to assess developments with COVID-19 to ensure we can all continue to experience live, in-person performances with confidence. Here are some of the steps we’ve taken to make sure we continue to operate safely:

All patrons (regardless of age) will be required to wear a mask over their nose and mouth at all times while indoors at the performance venue. Patrons who fail to follow this safety protocol will be promptly removed from the venue.

CLEANING & SANITATION

Standard cleaning of the theater will happen each evening. Hand sanitizer stations are provided throughout the performance venue.

DIGITAL PROGRAM

In accordance with the safety measures that make it possible for us to perform, our program is now virtual! Our patrons can use their smartphones to scan QR codes posted at the performance venue to view this year’s program. In addition to being eco-conscious, a digital program allows patrons the ability to download it, interact with our sponsors, and send it to friends and family.

PERFORMERS

Dancers: Berks Ballet Theatre dancers as well as guest artists are required to wear masks backstage during all performances. While on stage, many of the younger performers will be required to wear a mask. We’ve taken steps to work the masks into their costumes, for a seamless look.

Musicians: While many members of the orchestra will be wearing masks, those who play brass and woodwind instruments are unable to wear masks during their performances. As such, the first three rows of the performance venue will not be available for use by patrons.

SOCIAL DISTANCING

Meet-and-greets & photo opportunities: Traditionally, audiences are accustomed to gathering in the performance venue lobby to meet dancers and seek autographs/photos. This season, dancers will not be available for these activities and congregating in any area of the performance venue in groups is prohibited.

Before and after the performances: While memorabilia and gifts will still be available for purchase, congregating in the public areas of the performance venue in groups will not be permitted. Upon entry to the performance venue, ushers will be on hand to guide patrons immediately to their seats. Merchandise can be purchased during intermission and immediately following the shows. We have taken steps to make these areas as touchless as possible.
