Professional Dance Experience: Week 1 Recap
The Professional Dance Experience just wrapped up week one and we’d love to share some of the special moments with you!
Our days started on a fun note with each day offering something different. On Mondays and Thursdays, our dear Miss Crystal helped us kickstart the day with a refreshing yoga class. It was the perfect way to wake up our bodies and minds, setting us up for a day full of dancing. And on Wednesdays? We had the amazing opportunity to attend a workshop by “Danscend.” This program reminded us that as dancers, it’s just as important to look after our minds and hearts as it is our bodies, sparking conversations around self-compassion and the quest for perfection.
During the week, we dived into learning “The Kingdom of Shades” corps entrance from the classic ballet, La Bayadere. On our first day, we explored the plot, found out about the brilliant choreographer and composer, and began to bring the piece to life. We also tackled the Third Shade variation – it was quite the challenge, but we made it through!
Miss Crystal also guided us through an incredibly exciting contemporary ballet piece. It wasn’t just a new dance, but a whole new way of exploring movement. We loved it! We put in a good amount of rehearsal time throughout the week to prepare for our showcase next Thursday at the Miller Center for the Arts.
We like to have a little fun as well, so the everyone dressed up for Barbie Day and had a fantastic time!
And guess what? We’re already buzzing with excitement for Week two of the Professional Dance Experience Summer Intensive. Can’t wait to see what it brings!
