Graduating Seniors – Olivia Moyer and Audra Nemirow
It’s bittersweet to see Olivia Moyer and Audra Nemirow graduate! They have both danced since they were three years old and have been a part of the company for eight and seven years respectively. To see both of them grow into the young women they have become has been an honor.
Olivia is a strong, powerful dancer with long flexible limbs that allow her to move across the stage in what seems like one movement. She has always taken quite easily to the powerful fiery variations like Kitri but has shown she can be delicate and royal in roles like the Sugar Plum Fairy. Olivia was the first dancer BBTCD took to Youth America Grand Prix competing with 10 classical variations/contemporary solos over 5 years. Olivia was awarded several scholarships at the Delaware Dance Festival including the Artistry Award.
In July of 2017, Olivia attended the prestigious Royal Ballet School of London for their summer intensive having previously attended American Ballet Theatre, Miami City Ballet and University of Utah’s Summer Intensives. With all of her hard work, she was chosen to dance the role of Sugar Plum Fairy in BBT’s production of The Nutcracker in 2015. This was the first time a student had been cast in this coveted role in over 20 years.
In October 2017 Olivia was chosen as Berks County’s Outstanding Young Woman as well as winning the Performing Arts award. She brought home many awards and scholarships as the 2018 school year came to an end — 2018 Exeter Senior High Award in Physics, American Association of University Woman Scholarship, Exeter Township Lions Community Foundation Scholarship, Wellesley Club of Reading Award, Reiffton Social Quarters Scholarship, Christopher Grant Peterson Memorial Scholarship, Reiffton A.P.T. Scholarship, President’s Educational Excellence Award, United States Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Award. Olivia when on to graduate as Valedictorian from Exeter High School and will be attending Villanova University majoring in Quantitative Finance.
Audra has become a dancer known for her commanding stage presence. She was always reserved and quieter in class, but once she took the stage she drew the audience in and captivated them from her first step. Taking on the roles of Snow Queen and Odette from Swan Lake at a young age pushed her to challenge her self beyond what came easy.
Audra has competed at YAGP for the last 5 years — this year she reprised the first variation she competed with, Odette from Swan Lake. It was magical to see the transformation from a young dancer to the mature dancer she has become. Audra has attended American Ballet Theatre and Ballet West summer intensives as well as University of North Carolina’s Film School.
Audra received the H. Robert and Phyllis Goldstan Memorial scholarship from the Exeter High School Alumni Association, Fein Scholarship from Reform Congregation Oheb Sholom. She is a Reading Eagle Berks’ Best nominee for Communications and she is a member of the National Honor Society at Exeter High. She was a writer for the Reading Eagles Voices as well as for the main publication. She will be studying Television and Film Production at Hofstra University where she received a President’s Scholarship.
We are very excited for both of these young ladies futures and will miss their presence in the studios and on stage. We wish them the best of luck on everything they do!
