Custom Costume Creations

This year has been a busy and productive year for the Conservatory and Company, and it’s barely begun! I can tell you that we wouldn’t have it any other way. This week, the Company is heading to Wilmington for the Delaware Dance FestivalIt’s a weekend filled with scholarship classes, master classes and ends with a performance at The Grand Opera House.

This year the Company will perform Ballet Master/ Resident Choreographer Nathan Bland’s newest work, “Abstract Trio(s),” choreographed to a Mozart Piano Quartet. One of his visions for the piece was to have the dancers hand-paint their costumes! As luck would have it, one of our Company parents, Nicole Romanski PH.D., is an Assitant Professor of Art Education at Kutztown University. Nathan worked with Nicole to outline his vision, and she guided the dancers through the process. It was a huge step outside of their comfort zones, and they all did a fantastic job! Take a sneak peek of the creative process below.

We can’t wait to see the dancers in their very own costumes on stage!
